Evaluation: Attenade for ADHD
This is written assuming you have read my general discussion of
There are only a few studies of Attenade to glean information from. As more information becomes available this page will be updated.
It is a more highly refined version methylphenidate. It only includes the R-form of the methylphenidate instead of mixing it with its structural mirror image, the L-form. Because the prescribed dosage of Attenade tends to be about half that for Ritalin, parents often feel less guilty about giving a strong drug to their child. However, since the difference in prescribed dosage only reflects leaving out the inactive L - form half of Ritalin, the child is really getting the same amount of active stimulant. Thus the child is not being spared anything. Like Concerta and Adderall, Attenade lasts about 6 hours Though Attenade is too new to have specific information on side
effects, known side effects of Ritalin probably apply. Ritalin is known to
cause insomnia, loss of appetite, reduced stature, ticks, "zombie"
demeanor, stomach aches, moodiness and
Like Concerta and Adderall, it may be a little better choice of medication than Ritalin because it has less peaks and valleys.
There is a highly effective treatment alternative to AttenadeFor over 35 years I have worked with ADHD children and their families. Having been an ADHD child myself, I have a personal interest in this area. Current explanations of the disorder never fit my experience or the children I saw. It always seemed contradictory that children who could not attend to school work could play computer games for hours, though both activities use the same areas of the brain. This stimulated years of research and rethinking of ADHD theory and treatment. From this I developed my new (patented) and highly effective, drug free, Computer Aided Emotional Restructuring (CAER) treatment and wrote my books, ADHD: Drug-free and Doin' Fine and ADHD: A Path to Success to explain it. Learn how ADHD is not a defect, deficit or a disorder, but a highly skilled short-term defense mechanism that backfires in the long-run. Read more than 50 Amazon.com “customer reviews” of my book and treatment. The most typical response when people read the book is “That makes so much more sense than anything else I have read”, “You describe my child exactly”. It will empower you an optimistic lens that will forever change how you see your child and his problems. Sound intriguing? Learn about it now.
